Getting Fear To Work For You!

Fear can be described in two ways. The first is the one with which we are most familiar; a fear that holds us back, blocking us from our goals and success. This fear often stems from negative past experiences or negative thoughts that lead us to imagine the worst, and question our capability--uncertain if we are up to the task. This is a lurking fear that comes at the most inopportune times and can sometimes flash freeze and immobilize our best efforts.

It looks like this:

F—False

E—Education

A—Appearing

R—Real

The second type of fear is less familiar to most people.

  • It can propel us forward, and help us achieve our goals.
  • It is a more productive way of dealing with fear.
  • It is based on taking action.

It looks like this :

F—Feeling

E—Excited

A—And

R—Ready

The trick is learning how to transform fear so it works to your advantage. You can’t afford to get bogged down and hold onto perceptions of past negative events or thoughts.

It takes consistent practice and effort over time to stay in the present and transform your perception from the old to the new. How to do this? Get into action. Action empowers you. Stop the negative thought. Just say “Stop It” and interrupt the old habit of paralysis.

There is a great book that can assist you in this process entitled “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”, by Susan Jeffers, and call me, I can coach you!
