(Jan 13, 2010) Happy New Year 2010. A new year and a new decade!

Happy New Year 2010. A new year and a new decade!

If you subscribe to the “Work hard and finish strong motto”, then you can pat yourself on the back for your strong finish in 2009.

As we begin anew, there is an article I want to bring to your attention.
After reading the original copy in June 2007, I have been copying it and handing it to clients ever since. Dr. Khazeni could not say it better. Exercise brings therapeutic benefit no matter what shade of blue. And after time, it becomes sustainable as you move into the pink!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/06/24/CMG6VPLE5K1.DTL&hw=khazeni&sn=001&sc=1000

It’s your life and your health. Work hard and finish strong! And have fun along the path.

Happy New Year, with many happy returns and benefits each day!

(Dec 22, 2008) If You Think You "SHOULD" Make That Lifestyle Change, Think Again!

If You Think You "SHOULD" Make That Lifestyle Change, Think Again!

You’re at a party and a nice big slice of chocolate cake heads your way. Remembering those extra pounds you want to shed, you say to yourself,
"shouldn’t"

Or this scenario: as your friends are giving you a bad time, and even the surgeon general puts the kibosh on your smoke, you grab the cigarette pack light up, and say to yourself, " really ‘should’ quit smoking"

The deal is, any time we think we “should” make a change; it’s just not going to happen. Do yourself a favor instead, and indulge.

(Dec 22, 2008) Getting Fear To Work For You!

Getting Fear To Work For You!

Fear can be described in two ways. The first is the one with which we are most familiar; a fear that holds us back, blocking us from our goals and success. This fear often stems from negative past experiences or negative thoughts that lead us to imagine the worst, and question our capability--uncertain if we are up to the task. This is a lurking fear that comes at the most inopportune times and can sometimes flash freeze and immobilize our best efforts.

Got Holiday Stress?

Ways to Handle Holiday Pressure and Not Stress Out

Well, here we are, the Winter Holidays are upon us. And, what do the end of the semester, and the holidays have in common?

S T R E S S

As much as we want to have fun with the festivities, friends/relatives we've not seen for a long time, vacations which have been planned for sometime, we must prepare now with a positive outlook, and a flexible attitude.

(Dec 8, 2008) Conscious Breathing

Conscious Breathing

Becoming aware of your breath brings you into the present moment... the key to inner transformation. Whenever you are conscious of breath you are absolutely present, which results in less stress and greater harmony.

Breathing (and laughter) is our natural antidote to stress and an effective anti-depressant available to us every moment.

Deep breathing helps quiet our fast paced minds and our thoughts. It refreshes like cool water on a hot summer’s day.

On the topic of Right/Wrong (when it comes to day to day communications and relationships):

Leave right and wrong for science, math and moral issues.

(April 4, 2008) Shape Magazine Feature

Shape Magazine Feature

One day, I opened my email and there was a note from a lifestyle editor of the national monthly magazine, "Shape." She asked if I would be interested in becoming the life coach for their 2008 Weight Loss Diary article which runs in the monthly magazine.

Well, I read the email five or ten times and called my coach buddy Stew, who said, "Gees Louise, run, don’t walk, and look up the editor to see if she is the real deal, and then give her a call." I did just that, and low and behold, after a little Googling, discovered that she was the real deal. I called her office in New York City and she answered the phone (things were just clicking along). We had a great chat. I said "YES" and she told me about the gig and what would be involved. I shared some of my ideas with her, and in two days time, she let me know I had the job.
